Belarus and Venezuela have agreed on the oil supply
2010 03 17

It has become known after the meeting of the Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenka with his counterpart in Venezuela Hugo Chaves, that from May 2010 Venezuela is going to supply to Belarus 80 thousand barrels of oil per day. The supplied oil is going to be processed and sold to Europe. Moreover, Lukashenka promised “to take every effort in helping the population of Venezuela to have all that is available in the brotherly Belarus”.
“We have perfectly agreed on the supply of oil from Venezuela to Belarus, and our oil refinery factories will receive oil from Venezuela. We are going to process oil jointly and supply oil products to the European market”, - said Aleksandr Lukashenka on 16 March following the negotiations in Karakas with the President of Venezuela Hugo Chaves.
The parties have agreed to invest before 2025 approximately USD 8 billion in the joint oil refinery in Venezuela.
It should be noted that Lukashenka left Belarus for the working visit in Venezuela at the time, when a routine meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union with the participation of the RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was planned. Among the key issues of the negotiations was the balance of fuel–energy resources of the country for 2010. It should be noted that Belarus was not pleased with the new regime of export taxes on oil, introduced by Russia on oil supply to Belarusian oil processing plants.
