2010 03 31

Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius during his working meeting with the Head of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin in the residence of Putin in Novo-Ogariovo on 26 March paid significant attention to the energy issues of the independent Lithuania. As reported by IA REGNUM News, according to the statement by the press service of the Lithuanian Government, Kubilius stressed that goal of Lithuania is the construction of the new NPS in Visaginas.

“We are not considering participation in any other projects of nuclear energy. While talking about mutual relations concerning oil prices, Kubilius asked about the possibility of revising the price policy of Russia, referring to drop of global prices. “Putin was not specific in responding to this question – “we will consider it”, - stated press service of the Lithuanian Government.

Adviser to the Prime Minister Virgis Valentinavichius stressed in commenting the outcomes of the meeting, that Andrius Kubilius settled doubts of Russia and demonstrated serious intentions of Lithuania to continue its principal energy policy. “It is evident that during this meeting Lithuania has clearly defined its principal position concerning the development of independent energy policy. Provided Prime Minister Putin had any doubts concerning the seriousness of our intentions, they should be settled after this meeting” – quoted the words of Valentinavichius the press service of Andrius Kubilius.
