NATO Parliamentary Assembly on its plenary session on 16 November is going to review the resolution “On the Situation in Georgia”.
As reported by the correspondent of “Rosbalt”, it is stated in the draft document, that Russia is not meeting its obligations with regards to Georgia, and the NATO PA is inviting Moscow to implement the ceasefire agreement and withdraw its military forces from the “territory of Georgia”. Moreover, the NATO PA is willing that Russia allowed entrance to international observers in Abkhazia and South Osetia.
Positive assessment of internal reforms in Georgia is given in the resolution, in particular, on the development of democratic institutions, the May elections to the bodies of local self-governments, and constitutional reform. It is stressed in the document, among others, that the decision of the Bucharest NATO summit, stating that Georgia will definitely become a member of the alliance, remains in force.
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze, taking part in the meeting of the NATO PA in Warsaw, said: “Our key objective is that the resolution is approved in the form it is formulated now. That is, it shall objectively reflect all issues that are of concern for Georgia, and in the final version the approved text of the resolution met the interests of Georgia and the vision of our partners”.
