Why is the last European dictatorship still alive?

Vadim Volovoj, Doctor in Political Sciences
2007 12 10

Today several dictatorial regimes exist in the world and one of them is in Belarus.

There are several ways for replacing the dictatorial regimes: the first is related to use of force (sometimes with the help of foreign countries), and the second - to application of democratic or „half democratic“ measures (again, with the involvement of foreign countries). The Orange Revolutions which have taken place in the post-Soviet space several years ago, were supported by the United States.

A centrist liberal political power Civic Platform (CP) has won the Polish parliamentary elections. Its victory is not absolute, therefore CP considers an option of a coalition Government. Will CP invite Kwasniewski’s social-democrats, or the oldest Polish People’s Party? The CP will hardly seek support from the Polish Peasants Party, the Self-Defense of the Republic of Poland or the League of Polish Families...

Valentinas Mitė

When will the war in Chechnya be over? Maybe when Russia will physically destroy part of the Chechens and turn the other part into zombies loyal to Moscow? Unfortunately, the recent events in Chechnya indicate that this is exactly the case; whereas the West simulates that is giving credit to Moscow’s statements that it is fighting against terrorism.
